School Ethos and Approach
At Sedgefield Hardwick we aim to Instil success, Inspire thinking and Innovate learning.
We believe it is crucial that every child, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), is well equipped with a balance of social, moral, and academic skills which will enable them to learn and develop into creative, happy, skilled, confident and independent people who understand how to fully contribute to the local community and wider society.
At Sedgefield Hardwick, we are committed to the inclusion of all pupils across all areas of school life. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support required by those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our School is committed to anti-discriminatory practice to promote equality of opportunity, prevent disabled pupils from being treated less favourably and valuing diversity for all children and families.
The SIR provides clear information for parents and carers, and describes a graduated approach relating to all aspects of SEND provision for pupils at Sedgefield Hardwick, beginning with how children are identified and who to talk to about any initial concerns, going on to describe further arrangements, SEN support plans, Health Care Plans, resources, consulting procedures and transition.
Consultation in Production and Review Arrangements of SEN Information Report (SIR)
At Sedgefield Hardwick Primary School we ask parents of SEND children to express their views through discussion within review meetings. In preparation for review meetings, every child is asked what their views are as well as their hopes and aspirations for the future. The comments are recorded by a member of staff. The information gathered from parents and pupils is used to improve our SIR. The SIR is reviewed and updated annually. It should be read alongside the school’s SEN Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives and the Safeguarding Policy. The SIR is monitored, evaluated and ratified by the Governor for SEN, Mr Michael Watkiss and ratified by the governing body.
